Since 2000 Wiebe Kloosterman has been working at Corporate Express as Technical Project Manager for the Data Warehouse project. "The Data Warehouse is a system in which all data is collected that relate to purchasing, sales, products, clients, and suppliers. We link this information together and create management reports through it. My job is to ensure that the system supplies the requested data. The Data Warehouse stems from the concrete need for business data and is a true success. The information really supports management decisions. Because of our Data Warehouse, people have a better grip on what they do. And they appreciate that."

Wiebe agrees with many of his colleagues that the Corporate Express culture is informal, but does find the organisation in general rather formal.

“Career opportunities for IT people”, he adds, “are always somewhat limited when compared to specialised IT companies. But this is compensated by the fact that Corporate Express is a fine employer: very loyal, reasonable, and socially-conscious.”

He really appreciates, for example, the parental leave. “I was offered the opportunity to help at home after the birth of my children. In addition, when I recently had to deal with less happy private circumstances I was given the opportunity to take a leave. At many companies this is not something that goes without saying.”
