“Corporate Express offers many possibilities for personal development”
Alexander Steegers

As a Business Intelligence Manager Alexander Steegers, who has been working at Corporate Express since May 2004, is responsible for mapping the information needs within the organization and translating these into concrete reports and analyses.

Together with a number of colleagues, he is taking care of the set-up and development of a central reporting system: the European Data Warehouse. “The EDW was set up at the beginning of 2005 with the objective of providing a central insight into operational processes. Every day we receive the purchasing and sales transactions that have taken place at our European subsidiaries. On this basis, all kinds of reports and analyses are made in BusinessObjects. This gives the various disciplines within the organization insight into trends and developments from the deliveries of our suppliers up to the sales to our clients. Apart from that EDW also functions as a source of information for various strategic projects."

“Within the organization there is a visible change to decisions being more and more taken on the basis of facts, with the result that there is an increasing demand for management information. The fact that EDW plays an important role in this is, in my opinion, a success achieved by the entire team."

Alexander looks eager and inquisitive. He emphasises: “Every couple of years I want to do something else in order to enlarge my employability. I see sufficient possibilities for advancement within Corporate Express. In one of my next positions, I would like to bear operational responsibility. Other countries are certainly an option, and I would consider working abroad as a valuable experience in the light of the international character of the organization with its different cultures. Corporate Express offers many possibilities for personal development. At the moment I am taking an HBO (higher professional education) evening course in Business Administration.”
